UPDATE: The Interstate has reopened, according to police.
A 12-vehicle crash has closed Interstate 78 in Berks County Saturday morning.
State Police say the crash with entrapment occurred at Mile Marker 39.1 in Greenwich Township. Emergency crews were first called out at 7:51 a.m. Saturday.
Some of those emergency crews are assisting at the scene with extracting motorists from their vehicles.
Police say four commercial and eight passenger vehicles were involved in the crash.
The number and extent of injuries is not known at this time.
Interstate 78 is closed in both directions. Old Route 22 is being used as a detour route.
