Let’s have a look at how our local players in the pros are doing so far in August:
John Holobetz (Pottsville Area) – Pitcher, Greenville Drive (Red Sox High-A)
Holobetz did not figure in the decision in his latest start for the Drive against the Hub City Spartanburgers (Rangers) on May 15.
The Pottsville Area grad went 6 innings, allowed 2 earned runs on 2 hits, while striking out and walking 3 batters.
His Drive did earn the 12-11 win that day in 11 innings.
Holobetz is 4-0 with a 2.83 ERA at all levels in his first pro season. He’s got 38 strikeouts against just 8 walks.
Kaleb Sophy (Blue Mountain) – Pitcher, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers (White Sox A)
Sophy made his first start on Sunday for the Cannon Ballers on the road against the Hickory Crawdads (Rangers).
He went 4 innings, allowed just 1 hit and an unearned run while walking 4 batters.
Sophy has not allowed an earned run over 6 innings since being signed by the White Sox organization earlier this month. Opposing batters are hitting just .100 against him.
Thomas Schultz (Mount Carmel Area) – Pitcher, Harrisburg Senators (Nationals Double A)
Schultz was promoted to the Double-A Harrisburg Senators of the Eastern League on May 13.
Since then, he’s made two appearances for the Lawmakers, including a start on May 18.
In a relief appearance against the Altoona Curve (Pirates) on May 15, Schultz allowed a hit and an unearned run over 2 innings. He struck out 1 and walked none that day.
On May 18, he went 2 innings in a start for Harrisburg, allowing 2 earned runs on 1 hit while striking out 3 and walking 2 Senators batters.
For the season, in which he’s appeared at three levels within the Nationals organization, Schultz is 1-1 with a 5.16 ERA. He’s struck out 26 batters over just 22.2 innings pitched.
Joe Nahas (Marian Catholic) – Pitcher, South Bend Cubs (Cubs High A)
Nahas made two appearances last week against the Lansing Lugnuts (Athletics).
On May 13, Nahas worked 2 innings, allowing 2 earned runs on 4 hits in relief. Then, on May 16, he gave up a hit in one-third of an inning in relief.
Travis Blankenhorn (Pottsville Area) – OF/DH, Rocket City Trash Pandas (Angels AA)
Blankenhorn was officially placed on the Trash Pandas 7-day injured list on May 10. He last appeared in a game for Rocket City on April 29.
In 2025, Blankenhorn is batting 9-for-62 (.145) with 4 runs scored and 3 RBI.
Tom Reisinger (Mount Carmel Area) – Pitcher, Lansing Lugnuts (Athletics High A)
Reisinger made a pair of appearances during last week’s series against the South Bend Cubs.
On May 14, he worked 1.2 innings in relief without allowing a hit or run. He struck out and walked 1 batter.
Then, on May 18, Reisinger worked two-thirds of an inning in relief, allowing an earned run on a hit and three walks while striking out a batter.
Reggie Crawford (North Schuylkill) – Pitcher, San Francisco Giants organization
Crawford is likely to miss the entire 2025 season after undergoing surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder back in September.
The procedure has a 10-12 month rehab period.
