Let’s have a look at how our local players in the pros are doing so far in August:
John Holobetz (Pottsville Area) – Pitcher, Carolina Mudcats (Brewers A)
Holobetz couldn’t have written a better start to his pro career.
With the Single-A Carolina Mudcats (Brewers), the Pottsville native has started the 2025 season with a 3-0 record, winning every game he’s started. He has made four appearances overall.
Holobetz has a 2.89 ERA and has struck out 26 batters and walked just 3 so far this yer. He’s only allowed 13 hits in 18.2 innings pitched.
During an April 20 start against the Delmarva Shorebirds, Holobetz struck out five straight batters and eight overall en route to a victory.Â
Joe Nahas (Marian Catholic) – Pitcher, South Bend Cubs (Cubs High A)
Now activated after getting some rest following a winter of pitching in Puerto Rico, Nahas finds himself with the High-A South Bend Cubs.
He made his first appearance of the 2025 season on April 26. He went 1.2 innings in relief, allowing 3 hits and 3 earned runs in a 7-3 loss to the Beloit Sky Carp.
Travis Blankenhorn (Pottsville Area) – OF/DH, Rocket City Trash Pandas (Angels AA)
Blankenhorn has gotten off to a slow start with the Rocket City Trash Pandas. He’s hitting .155 with no homers and 3 RBI. He does have 4 doubles for the Double-A Angels.
Rocket City has Blankenhorn playing either in right field or as its designated hitter so far this season.
Blankenhorn signed with the Angels in early March.
Kaleb Sophy (Blue Mountain) – Pitcher, Lexington Legends (MLB Partner League)
Sophy made his debut with the Lexington Legends over the weekend. He threw one inning of relief, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 2 Charleston Dirty Birds batters.
Thomas Schultz (Mount Carmel Area) – Pitcher, Wilmington Blue Rocks (Nationals High A)
Schultz has continued to impress on the mound in the Nationals organization. After finishing the 2024 season on a high, he’s continued that good form into the new season.
He’s made 9 relief appearances this year. He’s allowed just 1 earned run (0.82 ERA) and 1 hit over 11 innings of work. He’s struck out 15 and walked just 4 batters.
Tom Reisinger (Mount Carmel Area) – Pitcher, Lansing Lugnuts (Athletics High A)
Reisinger has appeared in 6 games in relief so far this season for the Lugnuts. He’s allowed 9 hits and 5 earned runs over 10.2 innings of work.
Reisinger has struck out 8 batters and walked 7 over those 10.2 innings. He earned his first victory of the season back on April 13.
Reggie Crawford (North Schuylkill) – Pitcher, San Francisco Giants organization
Crawford is likely to miss the entire 2025 season after undergoing surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder back in September.
The procedure has a 10-12 month rehab period.
