Arrest in Schuylkill County Leads to Seizure of 4 Pounds of Meth, Hundreds of Ecstasy Pills, Steroids, Mushrooms, Guns

Defendant held on $250K bail

A Centre County man was arrested in Schuylkill County on Tuesday and is being charged with possession of a massive haul of illegal drugs and a firearm.

According to information released by the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office, on Tuesday a search and seizure warrant was executed on a 2009 Ford Fusion operated by Caelan Benjamin Conrad Houk, 24.

Inside the vehicle was more than a pound of methamphetamine and a Taurus .9 mm pistol and ammo. The meth has a street value of about $18,000.

Houk was arraigned before District Magistrate Judge Stephen Bayer, who set bail at $250,000 cash. He’s currently housed in Schuylkill County Prison.

A secondary search warrant was then executed on what’s believed to be Houk’s apartment in Centre County. The warrant was executed by State Police, the Centre County Drug Task Force and State College Police Dept.

Inside the apartment, authorities say they found another three pounds of meth, worth about $45,000, a Smith and Wesson .45-caliber pistol with an obliterated serial number, an ounce of psilocybin mushrooms and about 380 ecstasy pills. Several hundred amphetamine pills and anabolic steroids were also seized in that apartment, police say.

Houk’s arrest was the result of a joint investigation that included the Schuylkill County District Attorney’s Office, the Centre County Drug Task Force, and State Police units in Reading and Holidaysburg. The investigation is currently ongoing.
