Route 61 Road Work in Northern Berks Will Cause Delays for Schuylkill County Motorists

Work expected Monday-Wednesday and Friday in Tilden Twp.

A portion of Route 61 in Berks County that’s used by many Schuylkill County residents on a daily basis will be under construction starting this week. Delays are expected, according to PennDOT.

Starting on Monday, with an estimated completion date of Wednesday, construction will begin on the highway in Tilden Township, between Blue Mountain Drive and Cabela’s Drive. Work will be starting at 9 a.m. and finishing at 3 p.m. each day.

PennDOT expects a northbound lane restriction during the course of this project.

Brush cutting in the northbound lane will likely cause delays on Route 61 in Tilden Township between the Schuylkill County line and Lowland Road on March 7, too. That work is expected to begin at 7 a.m. and finish at 3 p.m. on Friday.

PennDOT urges motorists to use caution through this work zone.

In road work closer to home, PennDOT maintenance teams will be on Interstate 81 this week performing crack sealing in two locations.

Between March 3-6, from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m., crack sealing will occur in Pine Grove Township, between exits 112-119 and in West Mahanoy and Mahanoy townships between Exit 131 and the Luzerne County line.
