PennDOT has reduced the speed limit on numerous roads in the region due to the ongoing ice and snowstorm.
On Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County, the speed limit is now 45 mph.
That speed limit is currently also in place for these roads:
- Interstate 78 in Berks, Lehigh and Northampton counties
- Interstate 80 in Carbon and Monroe counties
- Interstate 380 in Monroe County
- Route 22 in Lehigh and Northampton counties
- Route 33 in Monroe and Northampton counties
- Route 222 in Lehigh County
As of 8:15 p.m. Saturday, sleet has fallen on the Pottsville area, quickly coating roads and making travel very difficult.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 3 a.m. Sunday with more sleet and freezing rain expected.
