National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for Schuylkill County. It goes into effect from 8 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 8.
Drought conditions combined with strong winds and very low relative humidity levels could turn the region into a tinderbox.
NWS-State College is forecasting steady winds between 5-15 mph on Friday, with gusts up to 30 mph.
Relative humidity levels could bottom out at an arid 30%.
These conditions are ripe for rapid spread of brush fires. Any prescribed burns could get out of control in a hurry.
A Red Flag Warning could be issued at any time during such conditions, NWS warns.
