An Orwigsburg man has been in Schuylkill County Prison for the last week, charged with rape and other charges.
According to court documents, Hakeem Lee, 35, allegedly attacked a woman outside her home in E. Brunswick Twp., forced her inside, and then sexually assaulted her.
Lee’s accuser told police that she returned home from work late last Thursday and heard a loud bang and some rustling. Believing it was a deer, the woman made her way to her home but was met by Lee.
Police say Lee grabbed the keys out of the woman’s hand and forced her inside her home. That’s when he allegedly sexually assaulted her.
When the woman tried to yell for help, Lee allegedly covered her mouth and choked her so she couldn’t scream. He also prevented the woman from using the bathroom and also took her phone.
Eventually, Lee passed out and the accuser in this case was able to call for help.
Police are charging Lee with rape, aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, and strangulation, all felonies, along with other misdemeanor offenses.
Lee was arraigned before District Magistrate Stephen Bayer during the early morning hours of March 22, who ordered him remanded to Schuylkill County Prison on $100,000 bail.
He’s due back in court before District Magistrate AJ Serina on April 9 to answer to these charges.
Lee has faced similar charges in the past. Back in 2012, a Bucks County jury found Lee guilty of aggravated indecent asasult but could not come to a consensus on a rape charge in an incident involving a 14-year-old girl in Warminster.
The judge in the case was forced to declare a partial mistrial, according to a Patch.com report.
Lee is registered as a sex offender.
