Police: Man Stabbed in Saint Clair Early Friday Morning

A Saint Clair man is behind bars after police say he stabbed another man in the borough early Friday morning.

According to information released by police in Saint Clair, officers were dispatched at about 1:45 a.m. to a reported stabbing. The victim was en route to the hospital when police were dispatched.

Police say they made contact with the victim of this reported incident. He told police that he went to an area on N. 2nd St. in Saint Clair to check on the well-being of a woman with whom he’d spent time earlier that night.

The victim told police that while he was speaking with the woman, he was approached by a man he knew as Queso. He said Queso – identified as Roberto Junior Martir-Crespo, 25 – took a swing at him but he was able to push Crespo away with a vehicle door. That’s when Crespo stabbed the victim multiple times in the upper torso, police report.

Police then say that Crespo phoned 9-1-1 and told dispatchers that he was on his way to the hospital and had just stabbed someone. Crespo said he was suffering from leg pain but police say he had no visible injuries.

Police say they were able to recover a knife from Crespo and that the weapon had blood, hair, and fatty tissue on it.

State Police were brought in to help process the scene.

Crespo was arraigned Friday evening before District Magistrate Judge Stephen Bayer. He’s been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, and misdemeanor charges of possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, reckless endangerment, and disorderly conduct. Crespo has also been charged with summary offenses for harassment and public drunkenness.

Bayer set bail at $50,000 cash, which hasn’t been posted. Crespo is now housed at Schuylkill County Prison pending a preliminary hearing.
