Reward for Info on New Philadelphia Homicides Now Up to $10K

Police still mum on investigation details.

Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers now says there’s a $10,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in the New Philadelphia double homicide case.

Police still haven’t made any arrests related to this case after the bodies of 18-year-old Hunter Mock and 16-year-old Angelito Caraballo were found in a wooded area outside New Philadelphia on the morning of Oct. 10.

Mock sustained a gunshot wound to the head. Caraballo had multiple stab wounds.

The two New Philadelphians were reportedly there at that wooded location with two 19-year-old men, Lamour Branch and Jahlique Sherwood, according to the limited information made public in this case. (READ MORE: Details Revealed In New Philadelphia Homicide Case)

Sherwood reportedly fled the scene on foot, through water and eventually found himself at a nearby home where he knocked on the front door asking for help. Branch fled in a vehicle, to a home in Port Carbon and then one in Tremont before reportedly getting an ex-girlfriend to drive him to a home near Mountain Top, Luzerne County.

Branch was arrested at that location by US Marshals on a warrant on a burglary charge stemming from a Sept. 4 incident at the Cressona home of that same ex-girlfriend.

He eventually made bail – after it was reduced from $25,000 to $10,000 – but was sent back to Schuylkill County Prison after bail was revoked when he failed to appear for regularly scheduled visits to the County Probation office and for failing to appear at a Preliminary Hearing on the burglary charge.

Several weeks ago, the parents of Mock and Caraballo were joined by family and supporters in front of Schuylkill County Courthouse for a demonstration pleading with authorities to move forward with the investigation. They also asked the public to come forward with any information they might have.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to phone Pennsylvania State Police-Frackville at 570-874-5300 or call Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers at 1-800-4PA-TIPS. Tips can also be submitted online via this link.
