It feels like the race for the two Republican nominations for Schuylkill County Commissioner has been going on for several years.
In a lot of ways, it has.
But today, voters across Schuylkill County finally get their say as they head to the polls to cast their votes in this hotly contested race.
A total of 8 Republicans are vying for just 2 nominations awarded after today’s vote. That includes the 2 incumbent candidates: Boots Hetherington and George Halcovage.
Since 2020, both incumbents have come under varying degrees of criticism and public backlash. That’s led to the crowded field of 8 candidates, 6 of whom believe they can do a better job as County Commissioner than the current set.
Those contenders include:
- Maria Casey
- Larry Padora
- Jeff Dunkel
- Mary Jo Moss
- Ray Jones
- Dan Evans
