PennDOT announced numerous travel restrictions on highways across Pennsylvania ahead of an expected ice storm Sunday morning.
The restrictions include Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County.
At 2 a.m. Sunday, all of I-81 in Pennsylvania will be under a Tier 4 restriction. That bans all commercial vehicle travel as well as towing trailers, school buses, commercial buses, motor coaches, motorcycles, RVs and motorhomes, and passenger vehicles.
Also going under Tier 4 restrictions at 2 a.m. are:
- Interstate 78
- Interstate 180
- Interstate 380
- Interstate 80 (from I-81 to the New Jersey border)
- Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76) in both directions from Breezewood to Reading.
For restrictions on other Pennsylvania roadways, check out the PennDOT announcement.
National Weather Service has placed Schuylkill County under a Winter Weather Advisory starting early Sunday and extending through early afternoon. Up to a quarter-inch of ice accretion before a change-over to plain rain.
