second girl accuses minersville man of rape

A second girl has come forward accusing a Minersville man, arrested earlier this week, of raping her.

According to court papers filed Thursday morning, a 13-year-old girl from the Minersville area says 20-year-old Michael Butler forced his way inside her home and then raped her back in September.

Butler is already accused of having sexual relations with a 15-year-old girl in Minersville after Patrolman Jeff Bowers from the borough’s police department found videos of that nature stashed on his iPhone. Messages on another phone allegedly spell out the relationship further.

In his affidavit, Bowers says he’s investigating numerous reports of Butler’s sexual exploits with minors in the area.

On Wednesday, Bowers says he was contacted by a 13-year-old girl in Cass Township who relayed her experience with Butler. She recalled getting a message from Butler last month asking if she was home. Less than an hour later, Butler allegedly showed up at her door and to get into the house, punched the child in the face.

Butler then forced the young girl to upstairs and he forced himself on top of her, she says. Then, Butler reportedly took off his shirt, pulled his pants down, pulled her pants down, and began raping her. The girl says she’s not sure if it was Butler’s fingers or penis that was violating her, however he was thrusting his hips at the time, according to court papers.

All this time, Butler had his hand over the girl’s mouth. When he removed his hand, the girl says she repeatedly said “no” but the rape continued for about 15 minutes. She then warned Butler that her sister’s boyfriend would soon be home and that caused Butler to panic and leave the house.

Bowers interviewed the girl’s step-father, who said he remembered that day in September and seeing bruises on the girl’s eye and arms.

Butler is now facing additional felony charges of rape, statutory sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, burglary, and more.

Police are still asking for additional victims of Butler to come forward with their stories. They’re asked to call Minersville PD at 570-544-6212.
