Port Carbon kicked off the Independence Day holiday in Schuylkill County with its annual 4th of July Parade this morning.
Local fire companies, youth groups, Pottsville’s Third Brigade Band, and several politicians marched with local children and their families in what used to be known as the Port Carbon Baby Parade.
Later tonight, at 9:30, the borough will put on its fireworks display from Monument Hill.
If it’s anything like last year, thousands will transcend upon Port Carbon for an impressive show, the only one scheduled in Schuylkill County on Independence Day.
Last night, we were at the inaugural Seltzer Festival for a fireworks display there.
Fireworks were also set off in Frackville for a popular annual show in the northern part of the county.
