Police have filed retail theft charges against three individuals in connection with separate incidents at the Saint Clair Wal-Mart. Two of the suspects are facing felony charges due to the number of previous retail theft convictions against them.
Michael Spirko, 53, of Norwegian Township, is accused of stealing $1,534 worth of merchandise on Feb. 11.
Police say they were dispatched to the store and advised a suspect had fled on foot. Police canvassed the area and located a male matching the description provided by witnesses hiding behind a sign near Dunkin’.
When police attempted to initiate an interview, the male allegedly fled. Police pursued the suspect on foot and issued verbal commands to stop. The man complied and was taken into custody without further incident.
Witnesses at the store positively identified the man as Spirko by name, citing familiarity from previous incidents at the location, police say. According to police, Spirko admitted to having prior retail theft offenses, and a criminal history check confirmed four prior convictions.
In a separate case, Rose Hendricks, 22, of Pine Grove, faces charges after police say she took $158.18 worth of merchandise on March 19.
Witnesses allege they observed Hendricks placing craft supplies and rabbit food into a backpack, and later concealing cheese and numerous kinds of candy inside her purse. After walking to a self-checkout register with a group, witnesses say Hendricks separated from her companions and passed the final point of sale without paying.
When stopped by store loss prevention, Hendricks cooperated and emptied her purse and backpack, police say. She also admitted to having merchandise in the front pocket of her hoodie, which she then removed, according to police.
Police also charged Sandra Davis, 60, of Middleport, with retail theft following an incident on July 18, 2025. She has three prior convictions.
Store staff say they observed Davis concealing Windex, clothing, and dog food inside her purse. They also allege an unknown male also placed a can of paint and wood stainer into her shopping cart. Additionally, witnesses say she concealed a necklace in her back pocket.
Davis paid for a towel at a checkout register but passed all final points of sale without paying for the other items, which had a total retail value of $70.38, police say.
All three have upcoming court dates before Senior Magisterial District Judge Edward Lewis in Port Carbon.
