Canary Rescue Crew: Tommy & Tammy Need to Stay Together Forever

Tammy just can’t get enough of her big brother, Tommy.

The Canary Rescue Crew highlights adoptable pets from shelters and rescues from across Schuylkill County. Our goal is simple: getting these lovable cats, dogs, and even a few bunnies out of the shelters and into their forever homes as soon as possible.

Today we have a special assignment. We’re introducing a bonded pair of siblings, Tommy and Tammy.

Losing the only home you have ever known is heartbreak enough, but facing that change alone would be unbearable. Fortunately for Tommy and Tammy, they have each other.

These two faithful companions arrived at Hillside SPCA after their owner moved to a nursing home and could no longer care for them. While their surroundings have changed, their devotion to one another remains the one constant in their lives.

Between 5 and 6 years old, Tommy and Tammy are the perfect age. They are past the destructive kitten phase but still have many years of love to offer.

Tommy is a handsome orange tabby with a playful spirit. He loves to chase toys and keeps things lively. Tammy is a beautiful diluted Calico who prefers the finer things in life, like long naps and quiet afternoons.

Their dynamic is like a classic comedy duo. Tammy absolutely adores her brother and looks to him for comfort. Tommy tends to play it cool and tolerates her affection with a stoic dignity.

We hope that once they settle into a forever home, Tommy will relax his guard and fully embrace the role of protective big brother that Tammy needs him to be.

Because Tammy is FIV+ (Feline Immunodeficiency Virus), this pair must go to an indoor-only home. This ensures Tammy stays healthy and prevents the virus from spreading to other cats.

They would do best in a calm environment where they can be the center of attention. They need a family who understands that Tommy needs play time and Tammy needs lap time. Most importantly, they need a family committed to keeping them together forever.
