A Schuylkill County man is facing a public assistance fraud charge.
According to court documents, the Pennsylvania Inspector General’s Office has filed a felony charge of assistance fraud against Matthew Conklin, 31, of Mahanoy City.
Conklin, the IG’s Office says, failed to report income from a job he held at a Schuylkill County business and from Unemployment Compensation.
As a result of failing to disclose the money he was making at the job, Conklin allegedly collected $2,202 in a SNAP benefit overpayment between April 3-Oct. 31, 2023.
Last week, a felony charge of assistance fraud was filed at District Court in Pottsville against Conklin. A preliminary hearing has not been scheduled.
