Schuylkill County Man Allegedly Attacked Neighbor During Argument About Dog Bite Incident

Shawn Davis allegedly had knife in hand when attacking neighbor

A Schuylkill County man is in jail after he allegedly attacked a man while holding a knife in his hands last week.

According to court documents, police in Shenandoah were sent to the 200 block of N. Jardin St. shortly after 4:30 p.m. on July 10 for a report of a large group fight.

At the scene, police say they spoke with the victim of that alleged attack. The victim reportedly told police that he and his neighbor, Shawn Davis, 59, got into a fight and that Davis nearly stabbed him.

He said that while sitting on his front porch with his girlfriend, Davis approached his mother saying he wanted to speak with her about an incident earlier that day in which Davis’ dog allegedly bit his dog.

The victim reportedly said to the victim, “You don’t need to speak with my mom. This is between us.”

This irked Davis and words were exchanged.

Davis then reportedly said to the victim’s mom, “I’m going to kill that boy.”

The victim, standing on his own porch, said in response, “Do what you gotta do.”

Davis then reportedly jumped on a neighboring porch and hopped its railing onto the victim’s porch. He yelled, “I’m going to kill you!”

The victim told police that as Davis hopped the railing, he saw a black knife in Davis’ hand.

During the attack, the victim said he kicked Davis off of him and into a railing. The victim’s mom, girlfriend, and another witness helped getting Davis off the victim during the fracas.

The other witness to the scene reportedly placed his arms under Davis’ armpits and lifted him, carrying him off the porch.

Police say they took Davis into custody. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge James Reiley later that night and charged with felony aggravated assault and misdemeanor counts of simple assault, reckless endangerment, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct, and possessing an instrument of crime, as well as a summary charge of harassment.

Reiley set bail at 10% of $15,000 and remanded Davis to Schuylkill County Prison pending a preliminary hearing, which is currently scheduled for Thursday.

I notice a recurring theme with DJ Reiley, pathetically low bails for serious crimes. There needs to be term limits for DJ’s in PA. He is there way too long.
