Schuylkill County Woman Jailed After Police Say Her Child Ate Her THC Gummies

Child reportedly tested positive for THC at hospital

A Schuylkill County woman was jailed earlier this week after police say her child ingested THC-infused gummies.

According to court records, Orwigsburg police received a Childline report on July 2 concerning an incident that occurred on June 28 at Geisinger-St. Luke’s Hospital.

Hospital staff reported treating a child who had allegedly consumed THC gummies. The child reportedly ate the gummies while the mother – identified as 29-year-old Viktoria Walsh, of Orwigsburg – was asleep.

Police say Walsh initially told hospital staff she believed the child had eaten 10 to 15 gummies, but later revised that estimate to between one and five.

According to investigators, Walsh explained that she arrived at that range by speaking with the child and doing a “mental count” of how many gummies she had stored in a hallway closet.

She reportedly told police that she keeps her THC gummies in a closet but only takes them one at a time and by the closet where they’re stored. They’re never in her bedroom, where her child sleeps with her.

However, she reportedly told police that a guest at her home a month prior did have THC gummies in their purse.

After a dog jumped on this guest, it knocked items from her purse and that she didn’t do a full sweep of the room to see if any gummies were still on the floor, Walsh reportedly told police.

Hospital staff reported that the child tested positive for THC and showed signs of intoxication during treatment. They also told police that Walsh appeared agitated during the hospital visit and spoke over staff during discussions.

During a search of Walsh’s home, police say they found a marijuana grinder containing suspected marijuana and a container labeled “Indica small flower 14g” holding approximately 15 suspected marijuana buds. According to police, both items were easily accessible.

Walsh is charged with endangering the welfare of children, a third-degree felony, along with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned Monday afternoon before District Magistrate Judge AJ Serina, who set bail at $25,000 cash. Walsh was committed to Schuylkill County Prison. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 22.

So, you’re telling me gummies were just laying around after they fell out her purse. Your nonsense makes no sense.

You’re absolutely correct! It is nonsense! She lied about everything! I would know, she told me what really happened and I have proof!
