Crawford Ks Big Leaguer in Double-A Debut at Harrisburg

As expected, North Schuylkill alum Reggie Crawford was added to the Richmond Flying Squirrels roster on Tuesday and immediately made his debut on City Island in Harrisburg.

Crawford got the start for the Double-A Giants, pitching 1 impressive inning. The Squirrels fell in the bottom of the ninth, 3-2 to the Senators (Nationals).

Throughout much of the early stages of his career, after suffering several injuries, the Giants organization has shown patience with Crawford, not overworking him.

Tuesday’s appearance was Crawford’s first for the 2024 season and comes after he suffered a lat strain in Spring Training.

Even though it was just 1 inning, it wasn’t uneventful. He worked around a walk and buzzed a 98 mph fastball by Stone Garrett, an MLB player who is with Harrisburg on a rehab assignment, to record his first Double-A strikeout and close out the 1st inning.

The Flying Squirrels will be in Harrisburg through Sunday. Richmond visits the Senators again in mid-August.

A trip to Reading to play the Fightin’ Phils is not on the 2024 Richmond scheduled.
