Juvenile Male Airlifted to Hospital After Being Stabbed Thursday at High School Football Game in Schuylkill County, Police Say

Jose Nunez Ovando held without bail at Schuylkill County Prison

A juvenile male was taken to the hospital by helicopter after he was stabbed by a man at a high school football game in Schuylkill County Thursday night.

State Police the stabbing occurred during the Schuylkill Haven at Shenandoah Valley game on Thursday. They were called to Veterans Memorial Stadium at about 9:15 p.m. after Schuylkill County 9-1-1 received phone calls about a fight.

The fight allegedly occurred near the concession stand inside the stadium.

Police say Jose Nunez Ovando, 42, of Shenandoah, brandished a knife and stabbed a juvenile male in the abdomen area. The juvenile male was taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville and then airlifted to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for further treatment.

No word on his current condition is being provided by police at this time.

Nunez Ovando was taken into custody without incident at a residence in Frackville. He was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker and charged with aggravated assault. Kilker denied bail and Nunez Ovando was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison.
