A Schuylkill County woman has been jailed after she allegedly dumped hot soup on her boyfriend Tuesday night and then hit him with the soup pot. The man suffered injuries that resulted in him being sent to the hospital by helicopter, police say.
Katura Williams, 45, of Mahanoy City, is charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment. She is being held at Schuylkill County Prison on $15,000 bail.
Officers in Mahanoy City were called shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the 500 block of E. Pine St. for a report of a physical domestic.
When officers arrived, they found the man standing outside in the street. He told police that he and his girlfriend, Williams, had gotten into an argument and that she poured a pot of hot liquid soup on him and then hit him with the pot.
Police say the man had a large, bleeding gash on his forehead, and his coat was wet. He told officers he was feeling lightheaded, so they sat him down on the sidewalk.
Officers then spoke with Williams, who told them that she and the man had gotten into an argument. She told police that after she threw the hot soup on him, he walked outside the house. She said she tried to chase him around the block but stopped and went back inside.
After she was placed in the back of a police cruiser, officers saw the man lying on the sidewalk having what looked like a seizure, according to police. EMS crews arrived, and he was flown by Life Flight to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment of his head injuries.
Williams’ preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 29 before Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker.
