Victoria Anderson, 31, of Mahanoy City, is charged with two counts of flight to avoid apprehension, one of them a felony, and a misdemeanor count of evading arrest or detention on foot.

Police in Mahanoy City say an officer in a marked patrol vehicle was heading west on E. Centre St. shortly after 9 a.m. Friday when thy saw Anderson walking east near the intersection of E. Centre and N. Main streets.

Knowing Anderson had eight active bench warrants through the Schuylkill County Detectives Office, the officer turned onto N. Main St. and parked.

As Anderson kept walking toward the officer, they told her she had warrants for her arrest and ordered her to put her hands behind her back. When she came within arm’s reach, the officer took hold of her left wrist to handcuff her. Police say Anderson pulled away, yelled “No” and ran north on N. Main St., then west onto W. Railroad St.

The officer got back into the patrol vehicle and followed. Police say Anderson tried to hide behind two garbage cans on W. Railroad St. When the officer got out and approached her again, she ran south onto N. Main St. and then east on E. Centre St., according to police.
