A Schuylkill County man was jailed over the weekend on felony firearm charges after allegedly threatening a girl with a handgun over Snapchat
Sincere Williams, 18, of Schuylkill Haven, was arrested by Schuylkill Haven police following the incident near Garfield Ave. Playground. Police charged Williams with felony counts of possessing a firearm with an altered manufacturer number and receiving stolen property, a felony count of carrying a firearm without a license, and misdemeanor counts of terroristic threats, stalking, corruption of minors, simple assault, and cyber harassment of a child.
Williams, police said, passed the gun off to a kid as officers arrived at a Schuylkill Haven playground on Sept. 3.
According to police, officers responded around 9:45 p.m.on Sept. 3 after a victim reported Williams was outside her residence threatening her. Police said Williams sent the victim a video on Snapchat depicting the outside of her home with the caption “you have 2 minutes left,” followed by a photograph of a handgun, after she refused to come outside to speak with him.
An officer located Williams at the playground shortly after and viewed the video on his phone. Meanwhile, a responding officer spotted two juveniles running behind a nearby business while carrying bookbags and intercepted them behind Borough Hall.
Police reported finding a black and silver Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun with an altered serial number inside a red bookbag carried by one of the juveniles. The firearm was loaded with a round jammed in the chamber and an extended magazine, police said. The juvenile told officers that Williams handed him the bag as police arrived and instructed him to run away with it.
When officers later spoke with Williams by phone, he declined to answer questions or meet at the police station, citing his rights, police said.
Williams was arraigned Sept. 4 before Magisterial District Judge Christian Lengel, who set bail at $125,000. Williams was remanded to Schuylkill County Prison after failing to post bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 29 before Magisterial District Judge Casimir Kosciolek.
