Bartholomew Has 5 Catches in Vikings Preseason Finale, Awaits Roster Decision

Final cuts must be made by Sunday at 6 p.m.

Gavin Bartholomew must now wait to see if he’ll make the Minnesota Vikings 53-man roster for the 2026 NFL season.

On Friday, the Blue Mountain grad hauled in 5 passes for 26 yards as the Vikings continued to struggle on offense in a 34-6 loss to the Denver Broncos in the preseason finale for both teams.

By all accounts that follow the Vikings closely, Bartholomew is locked in a roster battle with Ben Yurosek for Minnesota’s third tight end position. Both were on the field Friday as teams rested their regular starters. However, Yurosek did not have any catches.

Meanwhile, Bartholomew was targeted 5 times and made all 5 catches, one from Carson Wentz and the other four from Max Brosmer.

On the night, Minnesota had just 180 yards of passing offense and for the entire preseason, scored just one touchdown and averaged less than 200 yards through the air across three games. Bartholomew had the fourth most catches for the Vikings this preseason with 6 for 41 yards.

Minnesota and all NFL teams must make their final cuts by 6 p.m. Sunday.

Bartholomew has had a strong training camp for Minnesota and placed himself in the tight end competition through that play. He’s a sixth-round draft pick from 2025 out of University of Pittsburgh but missed all of last season with a back injury.
