A Schuylkill County woman is facing assault charges after police say she smashed a glass bong filled with purple Fabuloso over a sleeping woman’s head.
Katelyn Carr, 26, of Shenandoah, is charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.
State Police were dispatched to Geisinger Shamokin Area Community Hospital on July 27 after a woman reported being assaulted at a home in the 100 block of N. John St. in Girardville.
The woman told police she and Carr got into a verbal argument earlier that day. She said she laid down on a bean bag chair around 5:30 p.m. and fell asleep, then woke up to Carr screaming and smashing a glass bong off her head, according to police.
Carr then threw a wooden door that struck the woman, police said. As the woman tried to get up, Carr began punching her in the head, she told police. The bong shattered on impact, and the woman told police the cleaning solution inside caused skin irritation.
Carr left the home on foot after the attack, according to police. The homeowner then drove the woman to the hospital, where she received several staples to close a laceration on her head, police said.
Carr was interviewed by police the following day and admitted to the incident, telling investigators the woman’s remarks had left her irate.
Carr is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Sept. 2 before Magisterial District Judge Edward Tarantelli.
