Pennsylvania’s Dept. of Enviornmental Protection has issued a Code RED Air Quality Alert for all of central Pennsylvania, including Schuylkill County, for Thursday.
A Code ORANGE Air Quality Alert is in place for Friday.
DEP says wildfire smoke from Ontario, Canada, and Minnesota will enter Pennsylvania from north to south Wednesday afternoon and linger through the end of the work week.
Officials say everyone is susceptible to some health effects due to the poor air quality and those considered in sensitive groups may experience serious health side effects.
