Commuters across Schuylkill County will face daytime delays and lane restrictions on eight state roadways starting Monday as road crews begin a slate of milling, paving, and construction projects.
These PennDOT projects are expected to impact travel across multiple boroughs and townships through July 17. A separate, ongoing permit project in Orwigsburg will also continue to restrict traffic through early September.
Motorists are being told to expect delays and use caution driving through all active work zones.
Weekly PennDOT Projects (July 13 – July 17)
The following projects will run daily from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. with daytime lane restrictions:
- Route 54 (Mahanoy Township): Milling and paving operations between Mahanoy City and Barnesville.
- Big Mine Run Rd. (Butler Township): Construction work between the Columbia County line and Route 54. This project will occur on Monday only.
- E. Mahanoy Ave. (Butler Township and Girardville): Construction work between Route 54 and Main St.
- Main St./Gilberton Rd. (Butler and West Mahanoy Townships, Girardville and Gilberton): Construction work between Mahanoy City and Route 54.
- Morea Rd. (West Mahanoy Township): Milling and paving operations between Frackville and Morea.
- Route 54 (Butler, West Mahanoy, and Mahanoy townships; Girardville and Shenandoah): Construction work between Ashland and Mahanoy City.
- Route 924 (West Mahanoy, Union, and East Union Townships): Milling and paving operations between Shenandoah and Brandon St.
- Route 443 (Orwigsburg): Ongoing work between Warren and Liberty streets. Traffic is reduced to a single lane with flagging. Restrictions are in effect daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The project has an estimated end date of Sept. 4.
