A round of severe thunderstorms have knocked out power to thousands in Schuylkill County Friday evening.
According to PPL Electric, about 2,700 homes and businesses are without electricity as a result of those storms. Power outages were first reported shortly before 6:30 p.m. as National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for central Schuylkill County.
Downed trees and power lines caused by strong winds are the primary reason for the widespread outages.
