Serial Public Urinator Allegedly Told Police He Thought it Was Legal if No One Could See … It

Snyder arrested once again for public urination

A Schuylkill County man who was previously described as “well-known” for his urination exploits is once again facing criminal charges for peeing in public.

Police in Schuylkill Haven say they were on patrol along W. Columbia St. at about 7:30 p.m. on June 26 when they saw Luther Snyder, 74, walking west on the bridge. While stopped at the intersection of W. Columbia and Berne streets, Ofc. Michael Kalyan says he saw Snyder in his passenger side mirror.

Snyder, Kalyan says, reached into his pants and started touching himself. At that point, Snyder stopped walking and leaned toward the cement wall of the bridge in a downward, shielded position. Snyder then started peeing, he says.

Kalyan says he pulled over to speak with Snyder. While doing so, several passing motorists and walkers told him about Snyder peeing on the bridge.

During questioning, Snyder allegedly told Kalyan that he thought it was legal to pee where he did if no one could actually see his genitals.

Kalyan says in previous interactions with Snyder, he was told that it was inappropriate to pee in public. In 2024, Snyder was arrested on similar charges after he was caught peeing on an exterior wall of an apartment building in Schuylkill Haven.

Snyder is now facing misdemeanor indecent exposure and summary disorderly conduct charges.
