Schuylkill PrideFest returns to Pottsville with live entertainment and nationally recognized LGBTQ+ history exhibitions to Barefield Recreational Park today from noon to 6 p.m.
The event is organized by Youth Empowerment & Support.
The festival, which originally launched in Pottsville in June 2020, will feature two traveling exhibits provided by the Stonewall National Museum, Archives & Library: “50 Years: The Stonewall Uprising” and “Out of the Shadows: A Gay American Timeline from Police Raids to Stonewall Riots 1903 – 1969.” The exhibits detail the history of the 1969 uprising, widely recognized as the catalyst for the modern LGBTQ+ civil rights movement.
The family-friendly event will include arts and crafts vendors, community organization booths, and access to the park’s existing recreational facilities.
Live entertainment will be emceed by Miss Gay U.S.A. New York Divinity Cruzz and Morgan, Morgan, Morgan. Food trucks offering vegan and vegetarian options will also be on site.
To accommodate attendees, complimentary shuttle service via Molly the Trolley will run throughout the day, transporting visitors between the park and designated parking areas.
Festival parking is available at Alvernia University and the Pottsville municipal lot behind Union Station, located at the corner of Union and Progress avenues near Route 61.
