A Schuylkill County man riding an e-bike was killed Thursday night in a crash with a tractor-trailer along Route 61 outside Pottsville.
State Police say the crash occurred just after 11 p.m. north of Seven Stars Rd. on the northbound side of the highway in North Manheim Township.
The 45-year-old e-bike rider was traveling along the right shoulder of the highway near the fog line, police say. At the time of the crash, the tractor-trailer driver – a 38-year-old man from Vineland, New Jersey – tells police the e-bike rider was in the right lane of the highway when his vehicle’s bumper struck the rear end of the e-bike, damaging the bike’s rear tire.
Police say the Schuylkill County man was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital-East in Pottsville and pronounced dead as a result of the crash. His identity has not been released.
