National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for Schuylkill County on Saturday, June 6.
The Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 8 p.m.
This alert is also in effect for the following counties in Pennsylvania: Adams, Bedford, Blair, Cambria, Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Columbia, Cumberland, Dauphin, Elk, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lycoming, McKean, Mifflin, Montour, Northumberland, Perry, Potter, Snyder, Somerset, Sullivan, Tioga, Union, Warren, and York.
Forecasters say that severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and into this evening. These storms will be capable of producing damaging winds of 60 mph or greater and large hail (more than an inch in diameter).
Showers and storms, not necessarily of the severe variety, are possible before 9 p.m. Saturday, according to NWS. Up to one-quarter inch of rain is possible, with higher amounts likely in locations that see storms. Clearing is expected after 9 p.m. and an overnight low of 62 degrees is forecast for tonight.
Warm air sticks around through the middle of next week, with highs in the mid-80s expected through Wednesday. Currently, temps in the mid-90s are expected for Thursday and Friday of next week.
