Pottsville Film Festival Gets Underway This Evening

Actor, comedian Richard Kline the honored guest

The second Pottsville Film Festival gets underway this evening with two events downtown that welcome the event’s honored guest, Three’s Company star Richard Kline.

From 4-6 p.m. Friday, Kline is expected to be at Black Rock Brewpub for a Happy Hour Meet & Greet before he attends the festival’s Red Carpet Gala from 6:30-10 p.m. right down the street at The Chopping Block.

Then, on Saturday, the Film Festival gets fully underway, starting with Kline hosting a comedy workshop at 10:30 a.m. at The Majestic Theater. That’s followed by eight screening blocks between The Majestic and The Chopping Block all day long. A fan Q&A with Kline is also scheduled for 4-6 p.m. at The Chopping Block.

Two more film screening blocks kick off the final day of the Film Festival, followed by the awards ceremony from 2-3:30 p.m. at The Majestic.

DISTINGUISHED CITIZEN: Retired Magisterial District Judge David Plachko is being honored as this year’s Distinguished Citizen.

LOCAL INTEREST: Four Schuylkill County filmmakers will have their pictures shown at the festival, with three of them competing for the Best of the Skook award: Porch TIme with Eddie (Jacqueline Dormer), Shadow and the Rabbit (Stephen Pytak), Sturm und Stille – Between Storm and Silence (Montana Confer), and The Artist (Jonathan Paroby)
