Frackville is cracking down on unpaid trash bills.
Going forward, people with delinquent trash bills may find a fluorescent green sticker affixed to their trash cans. The word Oops! will feature prominently on the tag. These stickers signal to trash haulers – Frackville contracts with Casella for its pick-ups – that they’re not to take garbage from those receptacles left for them.
Residents who get these tags on their trash cans will need to contact the Borough to remedy the situation.
Councilman Stephen Tertel, who is also chair of hte sanitation committee, says that residents who try to remove the tags to get out of paying their overdue bills could be subject to fines as well.
In another trash-related concern, councilman Steve Kuzio reminds residents that they should only begin putting their trash cans out after 5 p.m. on Sunday for the Monday morning pick-up. Further, they should bring their cans back to their residence as soon as possible after the garbage has been collected.
Kuzio and Tertel say they receive numerous complaints about trash and empty trash cans blowing about because garbage is put out too early and the cans aren’t removed from the curb soon enough after haulers have finished their job.
