Mrs. T’s Pierogies says it’s delivering pallets of bottled water to Shenandoah and surrounding communities as the area’s water emergency caused by a water main break continues.
A water main break and persistent water line leaks have been plaguing Shenandoah and surrounding communities for well over a week. Borough officials say they aren’t sure how many leaks there are currently.
The bottled water was expected to be delivered to two distribution points by late Wednesday morning.
Mrs. T’s says half of the water shipment is going to Shenandoah Borough Hall. The other half is to be delivered to William Penn Elementary School.
Additional distribution locations are likely to be announced in the near future, the company says.
Mrs. T’s says it is working in partnership with Wegman’s and Niagara Bottling Hazleton for the water donations. The company says representatives of it and other community volunteers will be at these sites to help distribute water.
Potable Water Available from Aqua
A water tanker truck was set up at Shenandoah Borough Hall to distribute water to those in need starting Tuesday.
Those affected by the water service disruption in Shenandoah, Shenandoah Heights, Weston Place, Turkey Run, William Penn, and Lost Creek are able to get water from the tanker.
Water obtained from this source should be boiled before consumption. A Boil Water Advisory remains in effect until further notice.
Non-potable Water Available

Water for uses other than drinking and other consumption is also available.
Shenandoah Fire Dept., in coordination with Ringtown Fire Dept. and Ryan Township Fire Dept. has portable water ponds established at Borough Hall as well.
This water should not be consumed. It is for flushing toilets and other similar purposes.
Those affected by the water service disruption are being asked to bring their own jugs and other containers for collecting water and transporting it back to their properties.
Water Emergency Continues
On Monday, Shenandoah’s water treatment facility was taken offline, causing a disruption in water service to those served by Aqua Pennsylvania, which purchased the community’s public water rights in 2023.
The water treatment facility was taken offline in an attempt to pinpoint the source of the most recent water main break.
Water was being reintroduced on Tuesday to help identify that location.
Borough officials have not said if that location has been found. A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, including Borough and Aqua officials.
