This morning’s quick-hitting snowfall has once again prompted PennDOT to reduce the speed limit on several roadways, including Interstate 81 in Schuylkill County.
For the second morning in a row, Schuylkill County has received at least an inch of snow, slowing morning travelers. On Saturday, some areas of Schuylkill County received up to 4 inches of snow.
The temporary speed limit is now 45 mph, however PennDOT is urging motorists to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm.
Several inches of snow has already fallen on Schuylkill County. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until noon.
This restriction also impacts the following roads surrounding Schuylkill County:
- Interstate 78 in Berks, Lehigh and Northampton counties.
- Interstate 80 in Carbon and Monroe counties.
- Interstate 380 in Monroe County.
- US 22 in Lehigh and Northampton counties.
- Route 33 in Monroe and Northampton counties.
Commercial vehicles must stay in the right lane while the speed limit is reduced.
