Saturday was the first time Pine Grove Area senior Tristen Bickham has performed in front of a local crowd.
He was one of a number of bull riders that performed at the inaugural Schuylkill Stampede. And Bickham was clearly ready for his moment in the local spotlight.

Bickham earned one of the top scores among the Pro Bull Riders, giving him a second chance to mount up before about 2,400 people who packed into Schuylkill County Fairgrounds on Saturday night.
“It’s awesome to hear them cheer for me and see my friends watch,” Bickham told The Canary after his second ride on Saturday.

Bickham said he got into bull riding thanks to his younger brother and his birthday present. That gave him a chance to try out riding a bull.
“I was hooked ever since,” he said. “I love it. It’s fun.”
Bickham has been riding bulls for five years and competing for four, he said.
