Schuylkill County Woman Sent to Jail After Allegedly Attacking Her Mother

A Schuylkill County woman was jailed over the weekend after she allegedly came home drunk and violently attacked her mother.

Police in Pottsville say they were called to a home in the 1400 block of W. Market St. on Saturday evening, shortly before 8, to help EMS with a heavily intoxicated person.

On the scene, police say they spoke with the victim of the alleged attack. She reportedly told police that she had just confronted her daughter, 18-year-old Savannah Remaley, about coming home heavily intoxicated, only being 18, and out of jail on bail.

In response, Remaley allegedly punched her mother in the face, kicked her in the stomach, and then ripped out a large chunk of her hair.

Remaley fled the scene but police say they were able to catch up to her a short distance away. When she was taken into custody, police say Remaley had a strong odor of alcohol emanating from her person and was unsteady on her feet, falling several times.

She was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Plachko and charged with simple assault, harassment, public drunkenness, disorderly conduct, and underage drinking.

Plachko set bail at 10% of $25,000 and remanded Remaley to Schuylkill County Prison, where court records show she’s still housed.

A preliminary hearing is set for Sept. 16.
