A Schuylkill County man was recently arrested on a bench warrant out of Perry County after he allegedly offered drugs to a man for a ride to Pottsville.
According to court documents filed this week, police in Minersville were sent to an address on New Castle St. back on May 10 for a report of a suspicious person.
At that address, police say the spoke with a man who said an older man – later identified as Robert Rose, 66, who has no fixed address but spent (and did) time in Schuylkill County over the years – asked him for a ride to Pottsville.
After obliging to his request, Rose allegedly told the driver that he was wanted by police in Minersville and needed to get over to the city. He reportedly offered the driver a “gram” for the ride.
Going on a description provided by the driver of an older man wearing a light blue shirt and light blue jeans, a search of the area resulted in police finding Rose.
A check for warrants on Rose returned a result of him being wanted on a DUI charge out of Perry County, where he’s since been incarcerated. During a search of Rose’s person, police say they found two small plastic bags containing a white powdered substance that tested positive for methamphetamine.
In addition to the charges he’s facing in Perry County, Rose is now facing charges of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia here.
