A tractor-trailer carrying about 30,000 pounds of cheese this morning went off a roadway and down an embankmentin Schuylkill County.
According to State Police-Frackville, Route 309-North in Kline Township has been closed all day and could reopen by about 9 p.m. as crews work to clear the scene.
Police say that at about 9 a.m. Saturday, Troopers from the Frackville barracks were dispatched to the area commonly known as Mile Hill on Route 309 in Kline Township for a rollover crash.
Through their investigation, police have determined that a tractor-trailer hauling the cheese was driving south on Route 309. As it negotiated a curve in the road, the tractor-trailer crossed over the raised center divider and entered the northbound lane.
The vehicle struck a guiderail and rolled onto its driver’s side and slid 100 feet down an embankment.
The driver, a 40-year-old man from California, and a passenger, a 31-year-old man from Nevada, sustained minor injuries and exited the vehicle on their own, police say.
