A Flash Flood Warning is in effect for west-central Schuylkill County until 3:30 p.m.
The warning is also in effect for southeastern Northumberland County and south-central Columbia County.
According to National Weather Service, up to 1.5 inches of rain has fallen on this area and an additional inch is possible.
Flash flooding could result or is already happening. Areas affected by this warning include: Mount Carmel, Kulpmont, Ashland, Lavelle, Aristes, Fountain Springs, Wilburton Number One, Locustdale, Beurys Lake, Wilburton, Number Two, Gordon, Marion Heights, Centralia, Pitman and Schuykill County Airport.
A Flood Watch is in effect for all of Schuylkill County until 10 p.m. Friday
Flash flooding is possible from excessive rainfall today.
Creeks, small streams, low-lying areas, and areas prone to flooding are most vulnerable.
According to NWS-State College, showers and thunderstorms moving east Friday afternoon and evening ahead of a slow-moving frontal boundary are producing heavy rains. Rainfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are possible.
