Police Say 3 Pounds of Meth Seized During Traffic Stop in Schuylkill County

Suspects were in a gold Cadillac

Police say they seized about three pounds of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in Schuylkill County earlier this week.

Shortly before midnight on June 3, a Trooper from State Police-Schuylkill Haven barracks says he was on routine patrol on Route 183 in Wayne Township when he observed a gold Cadillac.

The Cadillac was in front of the Trooper’s patrol vehicle, headed north at a high rate of speed. It’s estimated the Cadillac was going about 67 mph in a 50 mph zone.

A traffic stop was initiated on the Cadillac. The vehicle was being driven by Hakiem Price, 38, of Williamsport. Inside were two passengers: Kareem Ray, 35, of Milton, and Ray’s 6-year-old daughter.

In court documents, police say they saw “numerous indicators that criminal activity was afoot,” including a strong odor of marijuana coming from the Cadillac. Neither Price or Ray have a medical marijuana card, police say.

During a search of the vehicle, police say they found two small baggies containing what’s believed to be marijuana along with more than $3,200 in cash. A further search of the vehicle revealed three vacuum-sealed bags under the seat where Ray’s daughter was sitting.

Those bags, police say, contained about three pounds of meth. Neither Price or Ray confessed to possessing the meth, according to police.

Both Price and Ray are each facing two counts of felony possession with intent to deliver. Ray is also facing a felony charge of endangering the welfare of children.

Plachko set bail at $100,000 for each, which neither has posted and they remain locked up in Schuylkill County Prison.
