A homeless man in Shenandoah has been jailed on an aggravated assault charge after he allegedly attacked a man at a park in the borough.
According to a report filed in District Court, police in Shenandoah were dispatched to Girard Park on the afternoon of May 16 for a reported assault.
At the park, police met up with the vicitim of this alleged assault. He said he was sitting under the pavilion at Girard Park when his assailant – identified as 20-year-old Bryce Beaver – and a woman approached him.
The victim says Beaver started to punch him in the face. Beaver then allegedly threw the victim down, causing his eye to hit the ground. That’s when Beaver then began punching and kicking the victim, he told police.
Police say the victim was bleeding from his face when they arrived. His eye and nose were severely swollen.
When Beaver was done with his attack, he allegedly pulled out a phone and started recording a video. While recording, Beaver allegedly narrated saying, “That’s a stupid m***** f***er right there.
Police say the victim refused to be taken to the hospital by ambulance, saying his sister would take him.
An initial search for Beaver came up empty. However, court documents show Beaver was arrested Thursday and arraigned that afternoon before District Magistrate Judge Anthony Kilker.
Kilker set bail at $75,000 cash, which hasn’t been posted, and Beaver has been remanded to Schuylkill County Prison pending a preliminary hearing. He’ll have to answer to a felony charge of aggravated assault and misdemeanor charges of simple assault and reckless endangerment as well as a summary charge for harassment.
