Nativity needed just four innings to dispatch Weatherly Area in the semifinals of the District XI Class A baseball playoffs Tuesday, 15-0.
Sophomore Ryan Examitas allowed just 2 hits and struck out 6 Wreckers batters to earn the win. At the plate, Examitas went 3-for-3 and drove in a pair of runs to pace the Hilltoppers offense.
Nativity got on the board early and often, scoring 5 in the first. For the game, the Toppers had 20 baserunners, between 9 hits and 11 drawn walks. Stephen Karinch, Ryan Grabowski, Tommy Bartashus, Zeno Rugh, Barry Jenkins, and Andrew Verchick all added a base hit each during the 15-run onslaught.
The Hilltoppers advance to the Class 1A championship – Saturday afternoon at 1 at North Schuylkill – against Notre Dame-East Stroudsburg, a 7-4 winner over Moravian Academy on Tuesday.
Pine Grove Falls to Notre Dame-Green Pond
Notre Dame-Green Pond scored three runs in the bottom of the 7th inning Tuesday to defeat Pine Grove Area, 3-2, in the quarterfinals of the District XI Class 3A playoffs.
The Crusaders walk-off run was scored on a passed ball, allowing the game-winning run to score.
