A public meeting and hearing has been scheduled to accept public comments on the proposed major modification permit of a Schuylkill County biosolids processor.
The Dept. of Environmental Protection has scheduled the public meeting for Wednesday, June 4, regarding the application submitted by Liberty Soils, which is based in Reilly Township. The meeting will be held at the Tremont Municipal Building on Clay St., from 6-9 p.m.
Liberty Soils is proposing to accept a daily average of 300 tons of biosolids at its processing facility in Reilly Township. The application also requests that it be allowed to accept up to a maximum of 500 tons per day.
Currently, Liberty Soils accepts a maximum of 300 tons per day.
DEP is asking that anyone wanting to submit comments or testimony register ahead of time. Comments will be accepted up to the day of the meeting and will be entered into the record if a person can’t attend the public meeting.

All notices should include your name, address, and phone number as well as a brief summary of the subject of the testimony.
People presenting at the public hearing are being asked to limit comments to 3 minutes. Those who pre-register will be given priority when the public comment period opens at the hearing. Written copies of oral testimony are recommended.
