Police have obtained an arrest warrant for the man they say eluded them in a high-speed pursuit in Schuylkill County last month.
District Magistrate Judge Edward Tarantelli signed an arrest warrant for 43-year-old David Brannigan this week. Police say he’s the man who was behind the wheel of a blue 2022 Subaru Impreza that gave them the slip on Interstate 81 in Delano Township on March 21.
While he was allegedly speeding in the southbound lanes of I-81 that day, police say they tried to initiate a traffic stop on Brannigan but he fled, at times topping 100 mph in his getaway. Brannigan passed vehicles on the shoulder of the interstate to avoid being stopped. Eventually, police abandoned their pursuit and it’s believed that Brannigan fled into Mahanoy City when he exited the highway.
When he’s apprehended, Brannigan is facing felony charges of flight to avoid apprehension and fleeing police. Police have also fired a misdemeanor charge of tampering with or fabricating physical evidence and numerous summary offenses.
