There is an elevated risk of wildfires today in Schuylkill County.
National Weather Service says a low relative humidity combined with gusty winds today create favorable conditions for the spread of wildfires.
Relative humidity levels could be in the 20s and wind gusts could be up to 30 mph on Saturday. The risk of wildfire exists for all of southeastern Pennsylvania, south of Interstate 80 and east of I-99.
People in that area are urged to exercise caution when handling any ignition sources like machinery, cigarettes, or matches. Any fire that starts could spread quickly.
