A Coaldale man says his family’s “mind games” caused him to assault a family member earlier this month.
According to an affidavit, Troopers from State Police-Frackville were dispatched to the borough for a report of a domestic assault. Upon their arrival, a woman said her brother, Diondre Hamman, 23, punched her in the face several times and shoved her into a wall.
The victim reportedly told police Hamman assaulted her after she said something to him but she didn’t remember what was said.
Police say they observed the victim to have a swollen cheek and bruising under her eye.
During an interview with Hamman, police report that he admitted to hitting the victim. He said he’d gotten upset because his family plays “mind games” with him.
Hamman was arraigned at about 4:15 a.m. on Feb. 1 before District Magistrate Judge AJ Serina and charged with simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor, and harassment. Serina set bail at 10% of $5,000 and remanded Hamman to Schuylkill County Prison, where he remains, according to court records.
A preliminary hearing is currently scheduled for Feb. 11.
