Schuylkill County is now under a Winter Storm Warning for much of the day Sunday, Jan. 19.
Snow totals between 4-6 inches are expected. Localized amounts of up to 7 inches are possible in some areas.
The Winter Storm Warning begins at 4 a.m. and expires at 10 p.m.
Heavy snow is expected during the winter storm. That will add to the travel troubles expected on Sunday, with visibilties being reduced to one-quarter mile or less. Otherwise, roads will become slick and hazardous on Sunday. Travel will be difficult.
In addition to the snow, temps in the area will be rather cold. A high of just 22 degrees is predicted for Sunday with wind gusts up to 22 mph.
Snow should continue into the night and it’ll get much colder. A low temperature of 12 degrees is in the forecast with wind gusts up to 23 mph. Wind chill values near 0 are expected.
The snow won’t be going anywhere anytime soon either. Brutally frigid air is moving in to the area with temperatures topping out in the teens through much of next week. Low temperatures through Thursday will struggle getting above 0 most nights.
